Features

Analysis tasks

Features

Construction Stages task automatically initializes the groups' construction stage information (activation - deactivation) from the database.

Earthquake RSA - reloaded

Features

We completely revised our workflow for seismic response spectrum analysis. The task comes with new backbone technology and charged experience:

  • tailored user interface with carefully engineered default settings
  • straight-forward account of stiffness reduction for vertical supporting members
  • easy ignoring of inertial effects of structural parts that are directly embedded into the soil
  • mode filtering allows to concentrate on the relevant modes; meet the targeted mass participation with as few modes as possible
  • the new computational backbone offers a new solution procedure for dynamic eigenmode analysis and noticeable performance gains for larger structures

Storey Checks

Features

For the assessment of structural seismic response, storey-based design criteria are an important ingredient in an engineer’s toolbox. Our new task Storey Checks provides the following calculation procedures for the storey results in the form of tables and corresponding plots:

  • General Tables: Storey Levels Synopsis, Centre of Rigidity and Centre of Mass
  • Regularity Checks: Soft and Weak Storey
  • Advanced or Load-dependant Checks: Second Order Check (P-Delta Effects), Storey Shear Forces, Storey Drift Check, Storey Displacements

Computer Aided Bridge Design (CABD)

Features

Traffic Loader task allows the selection of the spring items from the available Result Sets (RSETs) as a calculation result.

Superpositions and Load Combinations

Features

All superpositions of one combination rule can now be handled in a single MAXIMA run. Thus, intermediate and final superpositions can be processed in a single superposition task, only the sequence of input is important.

Shear Wall Design

Features

The new task Shear Wall Design performs a preliminary shear wall design to calculate the required reinforcement:

  • calculation of the required longitudinal reinforcement using the Simplified Compression and Tension Method
  • evaluation of each edge zone dimensions
  • calculation of the required shear reinforcement

Capacity Check for Building Cores

Features

This new task performs a capacity check for building cores and single shear walls:

  • calculation of relative capacity and capacity check for core and single shear wall cross sections
  • possibility for modifications of reinforcement for cross sections and reinforcement staggering
  • various plot options of interaction capacity curves
  • core and shear wall cross section plot

IFC/SAF Connector

Features

The new IFC/SAF Connector task enables you to import structural analysis models generated by other software in IFC (Structural Analysis View) or SAF format, thereby facilitating the Open-BIM workflow. Further information and how to use it are provided in the online manual.

AQB

Features

Construction stages are now considered also for shear within NSTR.

DESI with KSV PL/PLD calculates the utilisation for plastic capacities for steel- and composite sections.

AQUA

Features

Gravity center can be defined in record SVAL.

Shear bonds (WELD with a thickness <0) do not contribute to the determined shear forces. This can lead to lower plastic values, which are calculated with steel area only, but also to possibly higher elastic values, where inertia includes steel and concrete. Therefore the elastic values will not displayed anymore.

For the stress points (record SPT), the thickness TEFF for the c/t check can now also be set as a reference to a TVAR variable. (166600,173353)

Bugfixes

The plastic limit moments of rotated standard profiles were wrong if they were not calculated explicitly (CTRL STYP FORC). (184658)

Shear forces of the combinations of plastic limit forces were sometimes wrong. They will not displayed anymore.

The minimum reinforcement was not considered for the calculation of elastic limit forces.

The reducing areas of non effective reinforcements (NEFF Y,Z) and of reinforcements in composite sections were sometimes incorrect considered.

Sometimes shear stiffness of non effective reinforcements (NEFF -RN) were used in FE sections.

Shear areas Ay and Az and torsional inertia It of sectional design values were sometimes wrong.

Suppress rotation of principal axes (Iyz=0) was sometimes not considered.

The torsional inertia was sometimes not initialized, so the standard buckling curve may have been incorrect.

At construction stages and composite sections, the plastic moments Mt, Mt2 and Mb were sometimes related to a wrong shear center.

Fixed crash when processing complex thick walled cross sections with many nested polygons.

The export of variable thickness was sometimes wrong.

Other Issues

The torsional equivalent area (Bredt) is calculated more exact in case of one perimetric reinforcement (CURF).

A warning is printed if the sum of reinforcement is bigger than As,max recommending in design code.

ASE

Features

3D continuum analysis, new steel material with arbitrary hardening: For nonlinear 3D continuum analysis, a STEE material is now considered as elastoplastic continuum material of von-Mises type. Nonlinear hardening is automatically calibrated according to the specified work law (e.g. tri-linear). Example file: .../bric/bric_steel_trilinear_uniaxial_tension.dat.

DECREATOR

Features

Classification of design elements is now possible using the DSLN option TYPE, considering the intended structural member. Currently “Building Core” and “General” types can be set.

Geometry of a design element can now be defined from a connected sequence of truss elements by the DGEO option TRUS.

DYNA

Features

Enhancements and extensions for the wind derivative. The estimates of the eigenfrequencies have been improved and may be specified with GRP and STEP.

MAXIMA

Features

SUPP: SRSE Determination of the associated square root while maintaining the sign.

TRAC: Tracing of RSET results, boundary results and results of objective functions possible, improved printout for beam sections with result jumps (e.g. shear force jump).

Other Issues

SUPP: ETYP QUA* and BRI* obsolete.

PLBConverter

Features

The new input CFG allows to account for an existing configuration file (*.plb.cfg) when converting the content of a PLB into a DOCX file.

Inactive Chapters, Modules and Sections of the SOFiSTiK printouts (*.plb) are ignored by the graphical command Export to DOCX.

  • shear bonds do not show shear stresses anymore (adapting to program AQUA).
  • reinforcement stresses and material stresses can be output in one list (no warning 822).
  • some internal names of columns were unified.
  • representation of a plastic stresses block improved.
  • unit shear stresses are plotted in another unit. So the small values should be better to read.

Factors, e.g. utilisation levels, may be displayed as percent.

Same columns, e.g. quad element number, have now always the same unique name ('QUAD' instead of 'No').
